We embarked on our journey to Trece Martires, 46 km South of Manila. We arrived to find the basketball has been transformed to become a medical and dental clinic with our consultation desks ready to use. Our dentists have their special dental chairs set up with headsets that are made from metal wires.

We committed our day to the Lord in prayer and proceeded to hold small group evangelism, personal testimony and health talk on Diabetes Mellitus. Suddenly the Heaven opened its gate and down poured the heaviest rainfall that we have ever seen. It was compounded by the metal roof, and it sounded like a deafening waterfall. However, God sent this rain which was provided to clear the smog that was enveloping Trece and cool the place down. We thank God for sending this rain after we have moved all our medical and dental equipment into the basketball court. Everything is in God’s timing!

The dentists were quick in attending to their patients. One patient managed to have eight and another nine teeth removed. An eight-year child showed extra-ordinary courage when a molar tooth was removed and there was not even a sound of complaint. The medical side saw lots of respiratory illnesses partly due to the smog produced from the nearby volcano. There were sad stories like a young patient had both of her legs amputated due to Diabetes and her child had to be cared for by the grandmother who also had to work to make ends meet. We prayed for each patient to ask for both physical, spiritual and emotional healing after each consult. May God’ mercy and grace be provided for them.

We had two delicious meals that were prepared by our BL sisters. In the evening, we had fellowship with our brothers and sisters in BL. We sang songs, had interviews and got to know one another a bit more. It was a fun time that helped to ease the tension from the clinic.

All in all, it went really smoothly. I can’t imagine how much effort our BL brothers and sisters had to put in to prepare for the mission clinic. It is amazing that two teams can come together to work as one to bring praise and glory to our Lord Jesus!
